Excerpt from Chapter Eighteen--
"When the paramedics finally arrived, I was relieved but felt
self-conscious as well. I mentioned that
I had taken a Midol earlier, but it didn’t even come close to curbing my
pain. As the paramedics evaluated me I
couldn’t help but feel embarrassed that I wasn’t able to handle the pain I was
having and that I wanted to go to the emergency room for painful cramps. I was so dizzy and in such pain I didn’t know
what else to do."
